High-end model for Home Theater
"Full Hi-vision LCD Projector" New Release
Simultaneous release of 3 models plasma televisions "Plasmavision®"
|
We will release "Full Hi-vision LCD Projector, the superior
high-end Home Theater model, adopting "AVM-II (Advanced Video
Movement II)" (hereinafter "AVM-II", already released
on May 26) which is further advancement of the high picture quality
technology of the highly valued full digital video processor "AVM"
sequentially in Japan and abroad from the end of November.
In recent years, the market of projectors for Home Theater is
rapidly expanding around the world through the spread of DVD (180%
growth against previous year according to our company's survey)
and furthermore, the needs for enjoying high definition digital
contents with dynamic large screen as well as high definition
and high quality picture are increasing with the expansion of
terrestrial digital broadcasting and spread of digital storage
device such as HD recorder.
We position the new product of "Full Hi-vision LCD Projector"
as the superior high-end model for Home Theater and will promote
it positively for the Home Theater users who adhere to the high
picture quality.
The new product has been developed with further advancement of
high definition and high performance of the video processing circuit
utilizing the know-how accumulated through the development of
plasma display up to today, and the "AVM-II" which enabled
to make elaborate picture is incorporated into the "Full
Hi-vision LCD Projector" adopting 1080 (progressive) and
1.3 inch LCD panels (3 panels). Thereby, the industry's top level
of high picture quality is pursued combining high brightness (1200
ANSI lumens) and natural color reproduction full of reality with
68.7 billion colors (equivalent to maximum 1019 colors of multi
gradation display for dark object).
Furthermore, the new product realizes the display of high picture
quality, diversified function and performance matching the superior
Home Theater high-end model through such new advanced picture
quality technologies as 1) "Digital noise reduction",
2) "Low brightness multi gradation processing", 3) "Natural
color tuning", 4) Image Adaptive Processing *1"
In the simultaneously released plasma television "Plasmavision®"
as well, we intend to vitalize and expand the large-size theater
market by offering 3 model line-up of 42V, 50V and 55V types adopting
"AVM-II"
to users who want to enjoy high quality picture diversely and
freely.
*1 Image Adaptive Processing: To make optimized processing recognizing
data information and video information for each pixel regardless
of input source.

| "Full High-vision LCD Projector" (LPF-D711) |
"Multi-selector" (LPF-QSD1) |
| 1. Realizing the color reproduction of 68.7 billion colors corresponding to the full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) |
The new model is compatible with full High-vision by adopting 1080p
(progressive) 1.3 inch LDP panel. A flicker-less picture with high
gradation performance is made available by adopting high temperature
polysillicon TFT liquid crystal. Also, color reproduction of 68.7
billion colors is realized by making the process of RGB 12 bit each
using liquid crystal drive circuit.
|
| 2. Equipping the advanced high quality picture
processing device "AVM-II" |
The high picture quality produced by our original video processing technology
"AVM" has been highly evaluated in Europe and the U.S.
as symbolized by the first award winning, as plasma display, of
the 2002 Emmy Award in the U.S. and the Excellent Award from Germany's
high-grade prominent magazine "Image Home Entertainment"
in May 2003. Furthermore, the new product realizes the natural picture
full of reality for various image sources by the adoption of "AVM-II"
which is the more advanced version of the high picture quality technology
of "AVM" and meets the needs of the Home Theater users
who adhere to the high picture quality.
The following is the main features of the advanced high picture
quality video processing circuit "AVM-II".
1) "Digital noise reduction" suppressing generation of
digital noise:
The digitalization of video images is rapidly progressing through
launching of digital TV broadcasting in various countries of the
world and digitalization of video recording device such as HD recorder.
We are now enjoying high quality pictures owing to availability
of high resolution images by digitalization and solution of the
deterioration of picture quality when transmitting and storing.
As such digital video signal has much data volume, the data is compressed
when broadcasting or recording. In this case, peculiar noise(compression
distortion)occurs, which is particularly noticeable in large-sized
display.
In "AVM-II", by detecting and eliminating the noise peculiar
to digital images in high precision, a smooth picture can be displayed
making use of large-size display which has high display ability.
(Patent Pending)
|
 |
2) "Low brightness multi gradation processing" enhancing
gradation display up to 1019 colors:
In "AVM-II", a smooth picture display has been made possible
even for dark objects by combining floating decimal point arithmetic matching
the characteristic of human eyes with multi gradation processing, increasing
display colors for dark objects to which detecting ability of human eyes
becomes higher and making multi gradation display equivalent to maximum
1019 colors for the darkest objects in designing. (Patent Pending)
 |
3) "Natural color tuning" recognizing and correcting the hue for
each pixel:
In displaying pictures, natural color reproduction is made possible only
by balancing "natural color" reproducing original colors faithfully
and "memory color" based on various human experiences. This
balance between "natural color" and "memory color"
needs to be maintained by focusing on mono tone color such as color of
sky, lawn, human skin.
In order to realize this, we have developed and incorporated "natural
color tuning" system recognizing and correcting the hue for each
pixel.
In this system, natural and faithful pictures are realized by high displaying
ability using floating decimal point arithmetic function of "AVM-II"
without relying on so-called "TV color" which exaggerates
only "memory color" in CRT age. (Patent Pending)
4) "IAP (Image Adaptive Processing)" distinguishing text and
landscape and optimizing each of them:
The integration of TV and PC is rapidly progressing through digitalization
of broadcasting and improvement of video reproduction function of PC.
In the master screen for home use, it is required to display data information
such as text and graphic display and video information such as still
and moving pictures at the same time. On the other hand, as data information
and video information look entirely different for human eyes, the video
signal processing for optimum display is different between them. In
the conventional system, different signal processing is made separately
for data information and video information. Regardless of input source,
by recognizing and processing data information and video information
to the optimum for each pixel through "Image Adaptive Processing"
system, "AVM-II" can display data information clearly and
video information faithfully even for the screen in which data information
and video information are mixed. (Patent Pending)
 |
| 3. Adopting the newly developed photochromic
system reproducing "jet black" which further emphasizes
bright color (Contrast ratio 3300 : 1) |
The optimum brightness in each scene in which the picture express
the bright scene more brightly and the dark scene more darkly is
realized by adopting the newly developed photochromic system which
optically controls the lamp illumination frame by frame. Thereby,
the white image shines more brightly and the black image reproduces
"jet black", and the industry's top level of contrast
ration 3300 : 1 is realized. (Patent pending)
|
| 4. Appearance design with profound beauty matching high-end Home Theater |
We won the 2004 Good Design Award with the style which was designed
taking the integration with interior design into consideration by
employing a prominent interior designer Mr. Shigeru Uchida. Also,
incorporating its concept into the ceiling-hung unit and multi-selector,
the advanced design matching the high-end Home Theater is realized. |
| 5. 2-unit configuration convenient for simple installation |
As the multi-selector is equipped with HDMI input terminal and projector
is connected with multi-selector with one DVI cable, the installation
of Home Theater can be made easily.
Furthermore, various system-up arrangements can be made available
freely by abundant terminals of video/audio inputs.
